Karusel Soviet Russian Humor Book 1989 | Vintage USSR Book

Karusel – Soviet Russian Humor & Satire Book, 1989

Karusel (Карусель) is an original Soviet collection of humorous stories, monologues and sketches published in Leningrad in 1989.

The book brings together works by five Soviet humor writers: Semyon Altov, Viktor Verizhnikov, Mikhail Gorodinsky, Eduard Dvorkin and Konstantin Melikhov.

Through short humorous pieces and satire, the authors explore everyday life, relationships, work, medicine, language and the absurdities of Soviet society.

With 480 pages, black-and-white illustrations and its original Soviet-era hardcover design, this book is an interesting example of late-USSR popular literature and makes an unusual addition to a collection of Soviet books and Russian literature.
