Leonid Brezhnev – Large Soviet Photo Album, USSR 1982

A monumental large-format Soviet photographic album documenting the life and era of Leonid Brezhnev.

Published by Planeta in Moscow in 1982, Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev: Pages of His Life and Activities is an extensively illustrated documentary volume produced during the final year of Brezhnev’s leadership of the Soviet Union.

Across 296 large-format pages, the album combines color and black-and-white photography documenting Brezhnev’s political career and a broad visual history of the USSR during his era.

The photographs depict Soviet political leaders, Communist Party events, workers and industry, postwar reconstruction, military figures, international meetings, Soviet cities, children and everyday public life.

Its impressive physical size makes the book particularly striking: approximately 37.5 × 27 cm (14.8 × 10.6 inches). This is a substantial oversized photo album rather than a standard-format book.
